To enhance energy security, environmental sustainability, and economic growth

The NTU Energy × Economy × Environment (E3) Research Group sits within the Department of Civil Engineering and is led by Professor I-Yun Lisa Hsieh. The E3 group focuses on the contemporary challenges of sustainable energy system transition: how to effectively reduce energy-related CO2 and pollution emissions in the face of growing energy demand? We are aiming to accelerate the net-zero transition in Taiwan and the world by creating and developing advanced knowledge, ideas, and methodologies.

Electrification plays a critical role in the clean energy transition. The NTU E3 group is particularly interested in pathways towards a smart energy grid and green mobility, considering the impacts of sector coupling. We are currently building data-driven models and decision-support tools for a broad spectrum of possible sustainable energy futures.
